The Schauinsland is a mountain 1284 meters in height near Freiburg im Breisgau, one of the most beautiful cities in the Black Forest.

You can travel 1120 meters up with the cable railway and enjoy the wonderful view over the Rhine plane, Freiburg and the Vosges mountains.

Those who would like to see even more of the landscape can climb the 31-meter high viewing tower on the summit of the mountain. From the top, the view stretches to the Alps in the far distance.

If you have had enough of the views, you can disappear underground to discover the history of the mountain with a visit to the former mine. Silver, lead and zinc have been mined here for 800 years. These are the largest mine workings in the Black Forest and Vosges mountains, with a length of approximately 100 km, distributed over 22 floors.
